who we are and what we do
SmartHomes by CEAC is the residential real estate development arm of CEAC Outsourcing Company Ltd.
Our team has lots of experience solving complex challenges, and we’ve worked on real estate projects in Jamaica for over 20 years. SmartHomes by CEAC is our solution to the challenge of how to build high-quality, affordable homes that are environment friendly and future-proofed for climate and changing technology.
A house is not just a place to live and raise your family, it’s also a major lifetime investment. SmartHomes by CEAC are competitively priced, but offer additional lifetime value and are expandable, allowing you to add space and features over time.
We’ve spent years designing and value engineering every aspect of SmartHomes by CEAC, and from design to delivery, we are proud of the attention to detail and innovation we’ve brought to Jamaica’s housing market.
OUR TEAM
Dr. Christopher Burgess, JP
Managing Director
Chris founded SmartHomes out of a passion to deliver affordable, energy and environmentally sound housing. He leads the company’s technical direction. With over 25 years engineering experience through sister company, CEAC Solutions, Chris has worked on large-scale public and private projects in Jamaica and around the Caribbean.
Chris is an early riser who starts each day with his seven dogs. He loves documentaries on rockets and spies, and considers himself a visual artist because he went to a Sip‘N’Paint party once.
Lancedale Farquharson, JP
Operations Director
Lance’s intense level of discipline and attention to detail keeps the company’s wheels spinning. He has project-managed the start-up and continuing operations of HazPro, Ferry BPO 31, and CEAC’s HR service. Lance’s professional experience spans industrial relations, IT management, and project management.
Lance, who loves ackee – not with saltfish – but with salt mackerel and a slice of pear, spends his spare time watching movies and reading fascinating literature about the latest trends in pension funds.
Olivia Leigh Campbell
Director
Olivia has wide experience in media, public relations and government affairs. After working for 10 years in journalism around the Caribbean, she pivoted to investment facilitation, strategy, and business development. She has worked with government and private sector on conceptualizing and executing major projects and initiatives.
Olivia, a news junkie and aspiring beach bum, loves travelling, live music, and spending time with her son and her dog Chloe, a 100% Jamaican Yard Terrier.
Abigail DuQuensay
project Manager
Abigail is a Civil Engineer who specializes in infrastructure and construction project management. Her landmark projects include Kingston 876 Industrial Park sub-division consisting of over 2,000 meters of roads and utilities, and monitoring the construction of Ferry BPO 31, a 60,000 square ft call centre. She holds a BSc in Engineering from UWI Mona.
Abigail, a Sydney Sheldon fan, relaxes by painting and reading mystery novels, but does enjoy the occasional soca fete with friends.
Kelicia Williams
Business Development & Marketing Officer
Kelicia is a Marketing and Business Development Professional with high-level experience in the service industry. She is conversant in Spanish, and has a BSc in International Relations, an Associate Degree in Business Studies, as well as certificates in B2B Sales and Digital Marketing. With her dedication, optimism and positive ‘can do’ attitude, she welcomes any task and uses it to challenge her abilities to become even better.
In her free time, Kelicia tours Jamaica, with a mission of visiting at least one attraction in each parish.
Marc Henry
Engineering Technician
Marc has over 18 years experience as an Engineering Technician, and specializes in preparing technical CAD drawings for submission, field reconnaissance surveys and laboratory testing on samples collected in the field. Proficient in AutoCAD Land Desktop, Civil 3D, Revit and Robot analysis, AutoCAD Architectural Desktop, ArcMap and Terra Model, Marc translates technical ideas through visuals.
Whenever he’s not in office, Marc is either chilling on a beach in Negril, or in his kitchen cooking up Asian-inspired dishes such as his signature Spicy Sticky Noodles.
Jovan Thomas
Site Engineer
Jovan manages all the day-to-day operations and activities on-site at Aqueduct of Vineyards. He is the company’s main liaison for contractors, monitors construction and ensures that all regulatory requirements on site are met. Jovan is a recent first-class honours graduate of the University of Technology, Jamaica, where he earned his BSc in Civil Engineering.
While he doesn’t have much time to play these days, Jovan is actually a really skillful volleyball player: and even represented Jamaica as a member of the National Under-19 volleyball team.
Janeel Grant
Administrative and Logistics Officer
Janeel, with her calm and patient demeanor, is involved in just about every aspect of the company’s operations. She is responsible for managing the vital link between administration and operations, which essentially involves ensuring all logistics, payroll, bookkeeping, and purchasing matters run smoothly. She holds a BSc in Operations Management from UWI Mona.
Janeel is a visual and performing artist who is equally good on stage and on paper. The role she’s most passionate about, however, is volunteering as a math tutor for 8 to 12-year-olds at her church twice each week.
Joshua Burgess
Sales Officer
Joshua is likely the friendly voice you hear when you call SmartHomes. A seasoned social media expert, he brings energy and ideas to the team, helping to create the sales and marketing strategies. Joshua holds a BA in Journalism from UWI Mona and a MSc in Sport Marketing from the University of London.
Joshua is a huge sports fan and an occasional guest commentator on local radio and TV, but he saves his hottest takes on major tournaments for the “JB Sports Review” on Instagram.
OUR VALUES
We build modern, high-quality, homes that are affordable. We select partners and suppliers that share our values, and from design to delivery, we have factored in structural and other resilience features, ensuring your home will last a lifetime.
We are committed to reducing Jamaica’s carbon footprint by including built-in alternative energy solutions. All SmartHomes come with solar panels, EV charging point, solar water heater, rainwater harvesting system and potable water storage.
Jamaicans need quality homes in safe neighborhoods within financial reach. SmartHomes are competitively priced yet offer many standard features other developments don't have, because our design and construction processes ensure that we keep costs low and pass the savings to you.
We know how important it is to have good neighbours and a safe place to call home. All our neighborhoods are gated and have common green spaces and recreational areas to facilitate healthy lifestyles and build strong communities.
Ongoing value is at the forefront of all of our decision making. Our SmartHomes are designed to utilize smart technology available today, but are flexible enough to anticipate future expansion or tech innovation.
Preservation and protection of the environment is very important to us. We meet or exceed all environmental requirements, and wherever possible we employ additional environmental and efficiency measures.
